Spaarndam

Masterplan Bouwens, Spaarndam. In collaboration with Gérard van Gorp RE architects designed a masterplan on a 1.2 Ha plot in a small village near Haarlem. RE architects proposed a miniature town-center levitated over its rural landscape to create not only a covered square, suitable for all kinds of village-festivities but also to create density to leave space for large private gardens. RE architects proposes to change the existing office building into 4 corner houses and a 32 apartment housing complex around a central courtyard with retail space, entrances & covered parking facilities at ground floor. An architecture which is undoubtedly modern and is changing from every perspective, yet friendly & suitable in a rural village environment. The scheme involves a second phase with 14 additional corner houses with large private garden with extraordinary views over the Dutch countryside with all advantages of the ‘outdoor life’ without its disadvantages.

With this development a new size able meeting place is added to the old existing village center which lacked up to now. A pleasant space along the way to Haarlem which creates a new cornerstone for the future of Spaarndam.
