Regentesselaan, Hilversum. In collaboration with Koschuch architects we made a proposal for a refurbishment of a 550 m2 villa in one of the nicest area’s in Hilversum. Adjacent to a large forest with a 7100 m2 site this house with swimming pool and pool house was changed a number of times since it was built in 1937 and created an uncoherent image and unworthy of its beautiful location. The choice was made to make a large new roof which binds all components together. A large piece of the floor was taken out to make a huge hall with spectacular staircase which leads to a wonderful kitchen made from ‘open book’ matching natural stone kitchen. Upstairs walls were removed to make a large master bedroom with a matching bathroom made entirely out of natural stone. Insulation was improved with a new heating system with PV panels invisibly integrated with the new tiles on the new roof. Livingroom was enlarged with a huge window facing the garden. 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and 3 toilets were renewed and the uninsulated garage was turned into an insulated mudroom and large side kitchen. All built-in furniture was bespoke and made to measure. Outside the appearance totally changed with new added pop-out windows, all white exterior with wooden cladding.
