Hoofdweg

Masterplan Hoofdweg, Velsen. RE architects designed a master plan of 22 houses on a relatively small plot in a village near Bloemendaal. The architecture is inspired by villa’s from the fifty’s which form the background of early James Bond movies. A modern yet timeless style, which expresses itself calm and weightless in comparison to its ornamented neighbors. The layout of the volumes is chosen in such a way that the apartments have the full advantage of daylight, with bedrooms orientated to the east and living rooms to the west. We propose a cluster of floating abstract extrusions on 4 rectangular plots to ensure privacy and spacious balconies. On one hand it resembles a swarm of floating planes but on the other hand it forms housing archetypes with an expression of elegance of 4 large modern villas. Each of the 16 apartments in the 2 larger buildings has plenty of views and outside space formed by the cantilevering floor planes. These apartments are very suitable to house elderly people with a large spacious living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen on one floor with a guestroom with bathroom for a visiting family member on the mezzanine. All with great views and a large outside space on a sloped terrain and parking garage which is accessible by elevator. At the other side along one of the nicest streets to Bloemendaal 2 buildings are situated with 4 corner houses of 180 m2 with 6 rooms, a double high glazed living room with a fireplace facing a large terrace. These houses are fit with 2 parking places inside, large balconies and a garden around the house of 200 m2. The development leaves also space for 2 ‘inbetween houses’ with apart from a slightly smaller garden all the facilities as mentioned above.
