Notary office, Hillegersberg Rotterdam. RE architects developed a scheme for a notary office on a 0.1 Ha site in a suburb in Rotterdam. The program involved large floor spaces full of individual offices with a certain privacy on a highly visible location embedded in a forest like neighbourhood. RE architects proposed an impressive expression of raised cantilevering block of offices stacked on top of a glass block with a more public character with reception and meeting rooms. The contradiction of the heavy stone like office with privacy and the fragile, glass-like supporting volume underneath creates a very recognisable yet surprisingly traditional layout.
