Nouwen notarissen

RE architects developed a scheme for a notary office on a 0.1 Ha site in a suburb in Rotterdam. The program involved large floor spaces full of individual offices with a certain privacy embedded in a mainly domestic neighbourhood. RE architects proposed a string of offices which open itself only at proximity thus leaving a small scale firsts impression yet all advantages of large floor plans. This layered approach combines privacy with fully glazed façade and changes the building from each angle. An architecture embedded by contradictions; proud yet modest, closed yet open, recognisable yet extraordinary; this building will reveal itself only at second glance.
